GYST for Valentine’s Day Guide
Guys (I’m assuming LOLLLLL), it’s the biggest love day of the year, and if you straight up forgot about it or you’re in a new relationship or your SO is trying to downplay it like they don’t care about V-day, this is a test and I’m here to make sure you pass.
First off, don’t panic! Acknowledge the holiday and say, “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
There, that wasn’t so bad, was it?
Next, here are some things you can do completely last minute to make yourself look like you’re cupid’s BFF.
If you have money to spend and need a little help
Book a staycation (for this weekend or a future date)
Order room service because DUH
Get flowers from a real florist (bonus points if you have them delivered!)
Make a last minute dinner reservation
Schedule a couples massage
Lingerie, helloooooo (did you see our last post?)! But if you don’t know what to get, a gift card always works! Highly recommend checking out Darlin’ Intimates at Houston Station!
If you can afford a little something something
Get flowers from Whole Foods or if you have a crafty and willing neighbor/friend, Trader Joe’s!
Nothing says romance like perfume! Sephora sells these amazing perfume sampler sets, and inside the kit is a voucher for a FREE full size or travel size bottle of one of the perfumes in the kit (size of the free bottle depends on the size of the set you purchase)
A gift certificate for a pedicure or a facial or a massage is always nice…
Get them some V-day sweet treats (if you’re in Nashville, definitely hit up Baked on 8th!)
One of my friends received an Edible Arrangement with a card that said “For my favorite edible arrangement” and I thought that was the funniest, most brilliant thing
Buy their favorite wine or bourbon or learn how to make their favorite cocktail
Re-create your first date
Buy them a lesson in something they’d like to learn to do i.e. cooking, ballroom dancing, etc
Get them tickets to a show they’d like to see or for an event you think they’d be into (if cheese, whiskey, and burlesque sounds like the way to your partner’s heart, this event looks pretty cool!)
Anthropologie and Madewell have really, well-made jewelry for a moderate price point
Or maybe some pajamas/loungewear? Even Target has great options these days, and you can order online and pickup in store within a few hours!
If you’re kinda broke
Just because you can’t afford to rent a helicopter to tour the city and have a “Bachelor”-level date doesn’t mean you can’t have a great time! I think these options are some of the most fun!
Trader Joe’s has bunches of flowers and greenery starting at $3.99! Put them in a mason jar or vintage bottle for extra charm!
Get them a heart shaped chicken biscuit from Chick-Fil-A
Cook them dinner
If you can’t cook, get a heart-shaped pizza!
Have an indoor picnic (or an outside one if you live in a climate where it isn’t 33 degrees in the evenings!)
Go to a bar and sing karaoke
Go on a hike
Go ice-skating or rollerskating
Have a game night, but like, a sexy one (jk?)
Write (or make!) them a heart-felt card
Also, there’s no sense to completely bankrupt yourself in the name of love. Most places in Nashville will have a pre-fixed menu tonight, and I think it’s perfectly fine to want to pass on that altogether and opt for a Saturday night out or a Sunday brunch. Make a reservation for that NOW, figure something out for tonight, and tell them you’re just spreading the Valentine’s Day love out for the whole weekend. Awwww! So thoughtful of you!
And lastly…
WAYS TO SHOW SOMEONE YOU LOVE THEM THAT ARE COMPLETELY FREE
Make their coffee or tea just the way they like it
Write down all the reasons you love them and put them in a jar
Make them a Spotify playlist
Write them a real love note
Do their laundry
Rub their feet
Listen
Clean out their car (or spend an extra $10 and take it to the carwash!)
Water their plants
Take one thing off their plate that feels really daunting or annoying and do it for them
